Please Pillage These Plays

In the vein of Charles Mee, Wormwood Theatre Collective believes plays are meant to be taken, rewritten, reworked, and shared across artistic communities. As Shakespeare quoted Plutarch and Stoppard quoted Shakespeare, so we hope to exist in a community where copyright protects intellectual property without limiting intellectual inspiration. The full text of this play is uploaded here for your use. Feel free to cut, rewrite, steal structures, and poach lines. If you plan on producing the play as is, however, contact wormwoodtheatre@gmail.com for information on performance rights. Please note that, since this play was created in a month, textual formatting is inconsistent. This script is evidence of our process, the product only existed in live performance.

Carly Howard of Unnamed Moons plays for the audience before the show

Tunes, Brews, & Wormwood #3

The third in our monthly series which joins a theatre troupe, local band, and brewery to create a new play in just four weeks.

Tunes, Brews, & Wormwood #3 returned to Strange Craft Beer Company, this time working with the band, Unnamed Moons. Wormwood devised the story of a teenage girl, Maya, and her mother whom she remembers through a fog as both beautiful and terrible. As the memories in the play unravel, it is revealed that Maya and her mother lived together in a car at the fringes of society struggling to maintain their relationships in the midst of a difficult financial circumstance. The play used its outdoor venue to great advantage-- using cars as both audience seating and the set.

Tunes, Brews, & Wormwood #2

The second in a series of shows which, every month, partners with a different local band and brewery.

In August, 2016, Wormwood partnered with Open to the Hound and Strange Craft Beer Company.

In August, it was the end of the universe and the last remaining sellers of stories peddled their wares in the Enigma Bazaar. Their goal- to find one story which would survive the black hole and remain the fixed point in the universe. Tunes, Brews, & Wormwood #2 was a piece of physical theatre where the audience decided both the order of the stories and which ending they would see on any given night.

Tunes, Brews, & Wormwood #1

Our very first show! Tunes, Brews, & Wormwood #1 kicked off our Tunes, Brews, & Wormwood series-- a piece of theatre where we collaborate with a different local band and local brewery every month to devise a new show.

In July 2016, Wormwood partnered with local band, The Dollhouse Thieves, and the local brewers at Diebolt Brewing.

In this edition, a young girl, Meriwether, begins an epic quest Westward to try to heal her anger management problem. Accompanied by the ghost of Meriwether Lewis (as in Lewis and *shudder* Clark) and a gnarly hippy name Saca, Meri ultimately learns that place is less important than a sense of self.
