Wormwood Theatre Collective took its name from the writings of Lucretius. He wrote that art and poetry were like honey on the rim of a glass of wormwood-- it tasted sweet but got you to drink the bitter, medicinal wormwood of philosophy and truth. Thus, Wormwood Theatre Collective hopes to create resonant plays for diverse audiences without ever ending the search for truth and the cutting edge. An ensemble theatre, Wormwood vows never to simply employ the surface of an actor, but to elucidate their hidden depth, using their minds, bodies, and spirits to create a wide variety of work. Helmed by Amanda Martin and Tessa Nelson, MFA graduates of The American Repertory Theater and Moscow Art Theater Institute at Harvard University, Wormwood Theatre Collective strives to add to the already vital Denver theatre scene while continuing to be inspired nationally and internationally.
